Wild and simple Saturday

Another gorgeous fall day. There is a breeze, it's cooled down (yesterday it was in the low 70's!!), the leaves are coming down quick. Dh and son are staying busy trying to keep them up.
Dh has been having a bit of trouble breathing, I think it is caused from the dust on the leaves. He's started wearing a mask and took an allergy pill. Hope they help.

It's going to get wild here tonight. Dh has requested venison chili for supper and ds went squirrel hunting this morning, got one. So, he wants fried squirrel w/ gravy and biscuits. Me? Not sure what I'll eat. I'm not a big fan of venison and no way am I going to eat squirrel. Little rodents is all they are. Mean buggers.
EDIT- change of plans. The squirrel is going to wait in the freezer for his cousins to join him, so they won't feel left out of the experience. And the venision chili will be going with dh for the guys supper tonight. They had steak, I had pasta.

Simple Living Saturday~~
I went shopping today and didn't even leave my home. No, it wasn't on the internet or QVC. It was my freezer. I needed to find the venison and gr. chuck for the chili. I had put about 4 gallon blueberries and probly 2-3 bushel peaches in there this yr, these were all on top, covering everythign else up. So, I took it all out and rearranged it. I could not beleive all the meat I have in there. I could go the rest of the yr probly without buying any. I've made a list of what I have, put some of the meat in the freezer above the 'frig to get to more easily. So, before I do any grocery shopping I'll look at my list and see what I have and plan my menus around that. Maybe I can cut down on the eating out.

Dh is going deer hunting tomorrow for a couple days. Not sure what I'll do if he gets one, with the freezer full already. Hmm! Guess I'll be making some peach and blueberry jam/jellies/butter next week. Ds has already put in an order for a blueberry cheesecake. Yum!!

Dh has been under alot of stress lately, has been having some "episodes" with his heart skipping beats. He wore a monitor for 24 hrs, has had blood work to check thyroid, etc. Don't know the results of them yet. The dr said it was probably benign PVCs (Premature ventricular contraction). I'm hoping he can go, relax and have a good time with the other guys. Maybe even get a big buck.

~~til later

I canned a bushel of apples in apple butter, apple pie filling, applesauce... and 3 jelly jar cases of Stanley plum jelly, which I have to admit is to die for!! YUMMY... plus, I have alot of veggies from the garden in the freezer!! Peaches and blueberry!! I'd love to have that.. we have blueberry bushes, but we haven't had a good crop yet.

We love love venison chili at our house. My husband is a deer hunter too-and he supplies most all the meat we eat all year. I'm with you on the squirrels though. Hope your Dh has a restful time deer hunting-and gets a big one!

Wow, you've got quite the freezer going on there! All you need now is a turkey for Thanksgiving. :) Enjoy those peaches & blueberries. They sound heavenly.

We had venison chili Saturday night too, Patty... it's not too bad if you get it hot enough!! LOL
I don't know about the squirrel, though.. I'd probably pass on that.
