Thankful Thursday

Today is "no whining" day for me.

Oh, I have alot to whine about but I have so much more to be thankful for.

So, I thought I'd just let you in on a few of my blessings.

First and foremost--I'm so blessed to know the Jesus Christ is my personal Saviour. He's so much more than that, tho. You could never fully understand what I mean until you experience it for yourself.

"Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ." Romans 5:1.

A peace beyond understanding.

"And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus", Phil. 4:7

My dear husband, who works hard, who doesn't complain and even tho
it is hard for him to show/share his feelings, he lets me know in his own way that he loves me.
I know when he gives me a hug and says it's going to be ok, that it is coming from his heart.

My daughter-dear Jessica-who thinks her mom is amazing.

I have no clue where she gets that idea from but I'm glad she thinks that. So much I look back on and wish I'd done, so many regrets.

But she has grown into a beautiful young lady with so much to offer this world.
Now she has been blessed with a handsome fella, Ben.

My son-he's my bud. Where did the time go? He'll be 18 in Jan!! Head and shoulders taller than me (and I'm 5'8")

taken about 2 yrs ago.
and still he doenst' mind giving his momma a big ole bear hug and telling her he loves her, even in public. Melts my heart every time. I know there is a Plan for this fella, can't wait to see It worked out.

My health-even tho there are days since my surgery that I feel like (insert that word my kids say that I dont' like), I know I have so much to be thankful for in this department. I'm thankful it wasnt' anything to do with cancer. I'm thankful that someday-or so I'm told-I will be so glad I had it. I'm thankful that I have insurance, even tho it is becoming just a political circus.
So much to be thankful for in this area of my life.

Thankful for my upbringing, even with all its up and downs.
My dad was a carpenter, only had 2nd grade education, worked on the farm, couldnt' read and could only write his name. But he could make a drawing and build most anything he wanted to. I remember helping him on so many things. That's another story for another day, too many emotions.
My mom was an excellent seamstress, a crafter, excellent cook, loved to try new things, instilled in me my love of music, reading, taught me to cook, sew, be creative, never heard her complain about having to get up in the middle of the night with one of her 6 children. I remember coming home from school to homemade cookies--sometimes peanut butter cookies, crisscrossed wtih the tines of a fork, some a little on the scorched side, cause that's how my brother Bill liked them.

This is an excerpt from my devo today. Since Thanksgiving is next week, I'll leave it with you. What do you have to be thankful for today?

"Have you been saying, "I'll be happy when..."? No, happiness doesn't come from getting what you want, it comes from appreciating what God has given you. Instead of whining and complaining about your lot in life, stop and ask yourself, "What would I take in exchange for what I have?". If you don't know the answer, begin counting your blessings and thanking God for them."

Patty, your post warmed my heart today. We do have so much to be thankful for, don't we? God has blessed my family far beyond what we deserve. I try to remember that when I want to complain.

Thanks for the reminder! ;)

How wonderful to make the conscious decision to count your blessings instead of complain. Sometimes that attitude is all it takes to make the complaining stuff all fade away. Love your list, we share much of it. Family, health, a beautiful holiday around the corner spent with those we love.
Thanks for the reminder that we should stop and count our blessings. What special children you have, and your husband sounds like a great guy too!

Today, I'm thankful for my husband who is always there for my ups and downs, My daughter who calls me everyday from across the country and for a wonderful new grandson.
I am thankful I'm a Christian and know that Jesus is listening and taking care of all my needs every day!
