Are you happy?

Our pastor's wife's mother passed away this past week, her funeral was today. So, we had a guest speaker today for the morning service. He is a 72yo retired pastor. I love hearing the older preachers preach, they have so much life experiences to share.

He preached on Deut. 33:29

 "Happy art thou, O Israel:
 who is like unto thee, O people saved by the Lord,
 the shield of thy help, and who is the sword of thy excellency!
and thine enemies shall be found liars unto thee;
 and thou shalt tread upon their high places."
He said we tend to let our 'happenings' determine our happiness. Just like the children of Israel did when they were in the wilderness. They complained about most everything. Really they had nothing to complain or be unhappy about.
Happy is he who has the God of Jacob for his help,
Whose hope is in the Lord his God,
Ps. 146:5
They just needed to remember who was helping them and who they had their hope in.
~~til later
